New Callings!

Greg and I have been in our ward for about 7 months. We have loved our ward.  It is an older ward with many elderly couples. Its so fun having a bunch of grandparents in our ward. One of the ladies in the Relief Society presidency reminds me of Betty White. I just love her. There are also a lot of newlyweds. With all the old people they have plenty of room in their house and rent out the basements to newlyweds. So there are a ton of kids are age plus the older ones. Its just a great ward.

I was called as the book club leader. I could not believe it! I do not read. I have never been in a book club. I do not know anyone in the ward that great. I was shocked they called me. To my surprise I actually really enjoyed this calling. The first meeting I show up at they all say its nice to have someone who doesn't have white hair in the group. I'm not kidding, everyone is in there 70's. They were so much fun. They told me how the group used to be a lot bigger but everyone kept dying. I was laughing so hard. But trying to pick out books for older women was extremely hard. They were very sensitive so I had to be careful on what I suggested. I was starting to get worried with the new year coming. It was time to pick new books and I wanted to make sure I was getting the right ones for them. Greg did not have a calling and I was a little bit jealous. We had been there for a while and it was so weird that he had not received one yet. Well that changed.

We got a call from an executive secretary from the BYU 22nd Stake. We had no idea what ward this was. We were in the Sharron East stake, who was the BYU 22nd? They asked us to come meet with the stake president, we agreed and started to get a little curious. We went to our appointment and was told that Greg had been referred for a counselor in the bishopric. I was in shock! So they had us come in to get to know us and get the revelation they needed. They told us we would hear back in 4-6 weeks. 4-6 weeks!! Are you kidding me. That is such a long time to wait and see if you will be switching wards and getting new callings. Well 2 weeks later the president came to our house and offered Greg the calling. He accepted. So we are now in the BYU 188th ward. He is the second counselor. How crazy is that. Greg is 25 and I am 22... we are not old enough, but they think we are.

Greg was getting ready to leave for his meetings and I just had to take a picture.  Look at all those manuals!

Last week was our first week. It was such a crazy feeling. I had been in student wards before, but not when I was married! So this is a little different for us. Many of the ward members are older then we are, its just so different. But church was amazing. It is such a great ward and I was so impressed by the teachers and the lessons they had prepared. I feel like they are so much more spiritual then I am. We also went to ward prayer that night and FHE on Monday. I loved FHE! We got to meet so many of the members and  try to get to know them. There are a ton so it might take us a while to meet everyone. But after FHE Greg and I talked about this new adventure we were on. We were so excited. We know that it is the perfect thing for us right now and will help us get even closer to our Heavenly Father. This will bring so many blessings to us and keep us on the right track.

Greg is going to do such a good job at his calling. He is a little nervous, but is feeling great about it. As for me, I also got a calling. I will be teaching Marriage Prep. I think I am more nervous  for mine then Greg is for his. I have never taught before in my life! I have been married for 8 months and never took a marriage prep class. This is going to be a new thing for me. But I am excited, I think it will be fun and help me in my marriage. I will continue to learn things that I can apply to my life. So it will be great. At lest I hope. Wish us luck!!

Recap!

Wow it has been forever since I have blogged! So get ready to get bombarded with lots of pictures. Greg and I have had a great fall and winter. It has been our first one as a married couple! We stayed busy with school and work and house work but have also had tons of fun. I will let you see a little bit of the fun house stuff we have had to deal with but that is not as fun as the other stuff we have been up to.

WARNING: This is an EXTREMELY long post!

First off we had a drain in our house leaking from upstairs into our bathroom. The ceiling was leaking and it was gross. So it was up to Greg to replace the pipe. But this pipe was a pain in the butt!! It was an add on pipe that someone had done and it was done in a horrible way. It took Greg forever to do it. I felt so bad for him. But he did it and its working great!

After forever he finally got it!! Hurray!

We have also had a little bit of a mouse and spider problem. It was so nasty!! They were not normal mice, they were freak mice. We would set mouse traps and go check on them and the peanut butter would be gone but there would be no mouse. Greg was getting so frustrated with them. So he came up with an idea. He took a noodle and filled it with peanut butter then tied it to the mouse trap. He was positive this would get the mouse.

He got it all ready and went and set it down and then we waited....when we went and checked on it this is what we found.

The mouse had eaten as much of the peanut butter as it could from the inside and even nibbled on the noodle and it still didn't get caught! I was in shock. What kind of mouse was this? Poor Greg was not to happy.

We kept setting mouse traps and caught 9!! I was so grossed out. And some were little babies so we knew that there was a lot of them. We could hear them in our walls and I hated it. We heard them most by our door. There is a little hole in our ceiling were we had to take off some molding when we got our new door. We would always look up to see if we could see them. One day I noticed some stuff on the floor.

Its hard to tell but those little white dots are rice. They had been eating our rice and storing it up in that little hole and it all fell out one day. So we threw the rice away and bought some rat poison and put it all over the house and up in that little hole. We thought for sure this would take car of the problem. We came home and we found the poison on the floor.. they had pushed it out of that little hole!! What the crap! Who are these mice! They are so smart. We could not get rid of them.

It was finally time to call some one. We called a pesticide company and them came and sealed up our house and sprayed for spiders. Our house is now mouse and spider free and life is good!

                 Now on to funner stuff!!

Greg and I had so much fun these past few months. We have had a great Halloween, Fall Break, Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Over fall break we headed out with Greg's family to go camping. They go every year and it is so much fun. We go out in the middle of no where and just have fun. We have big bon fire's go dirt bike riding and shooting.  It is such a fun week.

My eyes are always closed.

So pretty.

Helmet hair!

On one of our rides we watched a deer drink from a stream. It was pretty cool.

Riding in the Rhino threw trees causes a lot of unwanted things down your pants.

We carved some pumpkins with Aaron and Diane and had so much fun. Carving pumpkins is so messy and itchy but so much fun. I love doing them.

Yes that is a grinder.

Greg of course did a BYU pumpkin and took forever doing it! But it turned out so good. I was very impressed with it.

We also made some Halloween gingerbread houses with Josh and Ashley. I love making these because they don't have to be perfect and cute and the broken crackers and the ones to use!

We could not get a black color, this was the closest we got!

Greg's haunted cathedral. I was very impressed with it. Such a good idea

That is a bloody body under my porch!

Greg and I also went up to Thanksgiving point for their cornmaze and all the other fun activities. We loved it up there! It was us and a whole bunch of little kids!

We could not figure this thing out

Yes, my eyes are closed again.

Entering the monster!

You come out of its butt haha

Greg trying to get us out.

With the end of fall comes the end of football season. It was sad going to the last home game. They are so much fun, I'm glad we got season tickets this year. I can get very into games and love going to them. Not only does it suck that it is the last game, but it was also cold and rainy, but we won so that made it all better!

My feet were freezing when I got home!

But with the end of football season comes the beginning of basketball season. Every year BYU plays up at the Energy Solutions Arena because the Marriot is being used for Christmas Around the World. Greg's dad got some tickets so we headed up. It was such a fun game to go to with his parents.

I was so excited for Christmas this year! I could not wait for it. I felt like I was a little kid again. It was our first Christmas together and it was going to be great.
We made some gingerbread houses with Aaron and Diane and had so much fun. I love having those guys live upstairs.

I totally messed this frosting up, but I fixed it when everyone said I couldn't

Diane and I are both sitting on our feet while Aaron's are both down. Must be a girl thing.

My cute little house

Aaron's amazing bridge

Diane's train. I love this!

Greg's house!

We also took my nieces up to the Festival of Trees. I love it up there. I think it is such a great idea and the trees are so awesome. I love how creative people are.

She loved this tree.

Meg was falling asleep, until I pulled out my camera.

I love this! "C is for Cookie!"

We dropped them off and Ayden went straight to the couch her dad was sleeping on and fell right to sleep.

I just love Christmas. I don't know how many times I can say that. We spent Christmas Eve with Greg's family. They have such a fun tradition. They all go to the store and can get whatever they want. So we stocked up and junk food. It was so much fun. We all went home at some food and watched Christmas Story. It was such a fun night. Greg and I went home and got ready for Santa to come!

We didn't have Greg's sock in time, but luckily I have two.

Christmas Eve

Greg's stuff did not fit in his sock

He loved his poster!

My sweet new helmet!

He also loved Black Ops

I got a blow up minion in my Decpicable Me movie. it took forever to blow up

Every Christmas my mom makes Monkey Bread. We only get it on Christmas. This was my first year making it. I started it the night before and it turned out great!

Christmas Breakfast: Eggs, Bacon, Monkey Bread. YUM!!

After we had opened all our presents from each other and had eaten are delicious Christmas breakfast it was off to the Cannon house for more presents.

The table is all the stocking gifts!

We stayed at the Cannon's for a few hours then headed up to my parents house for the rest of the night.

My mom could not believe my brother got her a present

We got Mack a BYU jersey. He loved it and cried when he had to take it off

Ayden also got a new shirt. She wears her other one all the time

It was such a fun Christmas, I was so sad it had to end. I can't wait for next year! I am so glad our families are so close and we can see both sides. They are so great and made Christmas all the better.

That is what Greg and I have been up to lately. I really need to update this more often, this could be the longest post in the entire world! If you looked at the whole thing I hope it kept you entertained.
